Exhibition in the framework of the campaign "Raise your hands against smacking!"
The "Raise your hand against smacking" exhibition sheds light on the thorny issue of corporal punishment by defining it, provides a historical overview of Council of Europe and United Nations efforts to eradicate it, and debunks myths that sustain the existence and "legitimacy" of violent discipline. The exhibition also informs on the three approaches needed to successfully challenge corporal punishment – awareness raising, legal reform and policy reform – and offers parents alternatives to violence in the form of positive parenting.
