Promoting the participation of young people from national minorities
This recommendation reaffirms that the participation of young people in political and public life is an essential pillar of human rights, democracy and social cohesion. It highlights the importance of integrating young people from national minorities into democratic structures and processes so that they can contribute fully to decisions that affect them and strengthen the representativeness of diversity within society. It also draws attention to the specific obstacles faced by these young people – particularly girls and young women who are exposed to intersecting forms of discrimination – and highlights the need for concrete measures to ensure their effective and inclusive participation.
