50 years of Council of Europe art exhibitions (2015)
In December 1954, the Council of Europe opened its Cultural Convention to all European states, members of the organisation or not, wishing to share their experience and to work together to meet the principal educational and cultural challenges facing contemporary European society. The fruits of this co-operation are numerous and have contributed significantly to developing educational provision and methods while facilitating the free movement of people, ideas and creative expression, making europe a true cultural space.
The series of art exhibitions was conceived from the outset as a public reminder of the splendours of the artistic heritage shared by all Europeans. The 50th anniversary of the opening of the convention was an opportunity to present this grand series via the posters and brief description of each of the exhibitions.
