Promoting Council of Europe values, youth policy and youth work standards in Europe - A Programme of the European Steering Committee for Youth
The Council of Europe attaches great importance to young people, as demonstrated by its commitment since 1972 through dedicated policies, training courses, projects and international meetings. The European Youth Centres in Strasbourg and Budapest symbolise this commitment and inspire many member states wishing to develop similar centres.
To strengthen its impact at national, regional and local levels, the Council of Europe supports initiatives inspired by the educational philosophy of its centres. In 2008, it created a quality label for youth centres to recognise and support those wishing to join its work. This label improves quality standards, promotes cooperation and serves as a platform for developing new projects in Europe. Since its creation, it has become an essential part of the Council of Europe's youth policy.
